I like a lot of things about this picture, but my absolute favorite thing is Natasha Lyonne’s reflection in the mirror as she struggles to take it.
When a major figure in the EDM world tweets things aimed at making young women feel uncomfortable with their own bodies (especially when there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Taylor Swift’s body), it has a rippling effect throughout his fan base. How many young fans of Swift are now inspecting their bodies in the mirror, wondering what the shifting cultural standard of beauty is and how they measure up against it? He used to be a teacher so should know better, but I’m guessing he wasn’t thinking about the repercussions of his words since his stage and audience have changed.
That’s from my teacher’s perspective. As a comedian, I’ll say this: it’s not even funny. Why? Because I’m not seven.

His latest project called “PomPom Mirror”, features a synchronized array of 928 spherical faux fur puffs controlled by hundreds of motors that respond to the presence of viewers using computer-vision.

I always get a little annoyed when people say the best part of any animation is the reflections. In conventional hand drawn animation, reflections show the artists true skill fairly well, but in CGI, reflections are generally fairly easy. Using reflection mapping, all the animators have to do is load up a render of the already created environment onto the eye texture and the software will automatically apply it to the surface after it is given sets of parameters for reflectivity. This is far simpler and potentially better looking than creating a brand new texture from scratch.
Not saying that “Oh, dreamworks is lazy, they didn’t put any effort into reflections blah blah” I’m just saying there are far more interesting and more labor-intensive features to ogle at, smooth movement being the chief among these. Saying the reflections are the best part is kinda like saying the most impressive part of a song is the sampled audio.
Stop your petty arguments, they only push you away from happiness, what you see is a reflection of your inner disharmony.
